Congressional representatives are elected every two years. The general election will be held on Tuesday November 6, 2012. The election will also include the office of the US President as well as part of the US Senate.
Before the general election, each party has a primary election which determines the candidate that will be run by the party on the ballot. In order to run, a candidate must first win the party primary, unless they are going to run as an independent.
The primary will be held on August 14, 2012. If you would like to support Steve Packard in the primary, you must be registered as a Republican. This is a “closed primary,” meaning only registered members of the party may vote in it.
To vote for Steve Packard, in either the primary or the general election, you must be a resident of the third congressional district and registered to vote. You can register to vote with your town registrar of voters, usually located at your town hall. If you’re unsure if your registration is current or not, it’s a good idea to stop by to make sure. You must register to vote ahead of time. You cannot register at the polling location on the day of the election.
